8 days after photographing this sweet little one's entrance into the world, I had the joy of seeing him again to photograph him with his big brother and big sister. If there's one thing I'm ~~a pro at~~ familiar with, it's trying to get 3 kids to cooperate for a picture :)

I love the one on the bottom left corner of this collage...it's not a shot I'd normally include in what I show to a client but it so captured the morning, and reminded me so much of my three kids when my youngest was a newborn and we were trying to get pictures done with all three :)

After getting shots of baby W with his family, Dad and big brother left to go to a hockey game and grandma came to play with big sister -- leaving him to eat and go to sleep and get pictures by himself.

It never ceases to amaze me how much babies change in the first days of life!

Last Sunday I got the honor of photographing this sweet baby's entrance into the world. I don't think this job will ever get old...

I got a text from mom about 9:45 Saturday night that she thought she was starting to get some real contractions and since this was her third, I figured she knew what she was talking about :) And sure enough, about 3 hours later, I got another text saying they were headed to the hospital. I told her to let me know once they had checked in and, depending on how far she had dilated, I'd be ready to head to the hospital. At 4:30 am, I got a text from her husband that she was 4 cm dilated so I hopped in the car, thrilled for no traffic heading to a hospital in midtown!

Mom was so calm, cool and collected -- even asking her husband, between contractions, to get the cookies out of her bag that she had made and brought for the nurses!

This sweet munchkin was born at 9:52 am...

...perfect timing for big brother and big sister to come meet their new baby brother! Congratulations...it was an honor photographing little W's arrival into the world!

Cole | Atlanta Newborn Photographer

Cole is officially the youngest newborn I've ever taken pictures of...not counting, of course, the births I've photographed or my own children. His mom and dad did not know his gender ahead of time, and his mom was so on the ball that she had me scheduled to photograph him the day after they got home from the hospital. I was so excited thinking it would be so much easier to get him to sleep (and keep him that way) for pictures. I didn't consider the possibility that he may be a boy and would have a healing circumcision, so being naked and on his belly was not too comfortable for him :( Lesson learned!

But we still got some great shots that day of sweet baby Cole with his mom and dad and then I went back when he was 12 days old to finish up our session :)

and because he's officially my last session of 2011, I was thrilled to see his mom wanted some shots of him in this shirt...

My most recent session was a special one because I got to photograph my cousin's beautiful little girl! I met up with my cousin and his wife and their adorable daughter, Arya, this past weekend at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. It was a gorgeous day and the gardens had a lot going on...a holiday dog parade, pictures with St.Nick, wreath-making, train rides...not to mention us trying to get some pictures of a 20 month old :) Despite the many distractions, I think we got some pretty cute shots. She is such a gorgeous child, it's hard not to get such great pictures!

And I finally got a little smile and giggle out of her when I discovered that she was ticklish :) Thanks, Kit and Shubhra, for letting me spend the morning with you guys! Enjoy your pictures!

I've lost track of how many times I've photographed this family :) I just love watching these two beautiful little girls grow!

And here's just a few outtakes that I believe are proof of the two most difficult ages to photograph :) 2 1/2 and 6 months! Individiually, they are great...together, takes a lot of pictures to get one with both looking and/or cooperating with the camera simultaneously! But I still love the shots we got!

Another amazing birth experience...

I got a call from Alicia that she was in labor about 1:30 a.m. on November 17th. Before I had gone to bed earlier that night, I had a feeling that I might be getting a call. I had logged on to Facebook and something had popped up in my newsfeed that Alicia had posted about timing her contractions and that they felt different from the Braxton-Hicks she'd been having. So I went to bed excited about the possibility of photographing my first water birth :) When Alicia called she said she had talked to her midwife and they were going to labor at home for a while, so I told her that my things were packed and to call me when she decided to head in. That next call came about 4:30 -- I don't think I slept much between then because I was afraid I'd miss her call!

I got up, raced around and was out the door in 15 minutes, headed to Atlanta Medical Center. I walked in close behind Alicia and her mom, then made myself comfortable in the waiting room where Alicia's parents were. Alicia would be in triage for awhile where only 1 other person was allowed to be with her and obviously, that would not be the photographer :)

Once she was moved to a Labor & Delivery room, I went back. Alicia was amazingly calm, laboring through contractions as the nurses filled up the birthing pool and got everything ready.

There are so many things I love about photographing births, but one of my favorites is watching the interactions between dad and the laboring mom. In every birth I've photographed, the dads are always so attentive and Drew was no exception. One of the nurses even commented to me, "Where can I find a guy like that?!" He seemed to know what Alicia needed before she asked, including when to back off and give her some space :)

I was also thrilled to get to meet Alicia's midwife, Anjli, a midwife with Intown Midwifery. She is also one of the driving forces behind the Atlanta Birth Center, slated to open in March 2013.

As I was snapping away all morning, I couldn't help but marvel at how different of an experience having a water birth was from my experiences giving birth three times. AND I was truly amazed at how relaxed Alicia was the whole time.

Hands down my favorite image from the day, the new mom seeing her baby for the first time. I was overcome with emotion at this moment, as in every birth I've attended, because I know it is one of those moments that every mother remembers for the rest of their lives and I am overwhelmed that I have been invited to capture it and create a visual reminder of it for her to see and one day show her child.

His first child, but he already looks like a natural, don't you think? On the phone sharing the good news...

Seeing family members, especially grandparents, meet the baby is always a special moment, too. Inevitably the "I think she looks like ______" start up and it's always fun to hear the comparisons :)

Sweet Baby E | Atlanta Newborn Photographer

Next to photographing births, photographing newborns are a close second in terms of my favorite subjects! And this newborn was no exception, especially since it feels like he's practically family. I mean, considering the fact that he's my best friend's nephew, that pretty much makes me an aunt, right?! I think so :)

This is what I love about newborn pictures...capturing all the little things that make them uniquely a newborn and not just a baby. The little flakes of skin on their feet, the dark spot on their belly buttons where their cord has just fallen off, and the way they still so easily curl up into the fetal position when being held in their mother's arms.

I remember doing this with my first child...just staring at her all day long, in awe that she was actually mine.

Nothing sweeter than seeing a new dad with his baby!

When I met with the Scott family a few weekends ago it was the most perfect fall weekend! We met at the Autry Mill Nature Preserve & Heritage Center, a new location for me, but I was thrilled because there were some great settings for pictures.

I've said this before, but births are my absolute favorite thing to photograph. Throw in the fact that this mom is a friend of mine, and that made the event that much more special!

There were so many wonderful things about this birth...the timing was perfect, it was a new hospital for me to be photographing in, not to mention seeing my friend deliver an adorable and healthy baby boy.

I met up with these adorable boys and their parents one gorgeous weekend in early September. Their mom kept telling me it would be crazy trying to get a good picture of all three, but I was up for the challenge :)

Got to photograph this sweetie this morning and she was all smiles! This is the 3rd or 4th time I've photographed her and I have loved watching her grow up in front of my lens. Her mom is one of my dearest friends, so we always get a playdate out of our photo sessions since they drive in from Athens :)

Like a typical one year old, she wouldn't stay put for too long when we'd try to sit her or stand her somewhere -- after looking at the camera once, she'd be off!

Still Fighting Like A Girl | Atlanta Portrait Photographer

This past February I photographed Kim (session HERE) after she'd finished her chemotherapy and was days away from her double mastectomy in her battle against breast cancer.

When she first contacted me she said a friend had suggested she do some before and after pictures and I'm so honored that she asked me to do them. If you haven't guessed by now, these are her "after" pictures...celebrating her recovery from surgery and completion of radiation treatments and...the wonderful news she got last week that she is officially CANCER FREE.

I can't imagine what those words must mean to her.

She has some reconstructive surgery planned this fall and then, other than check-ups and follow-ups, she is done.

We met at Piedmont Park again this morning because I thought it would be neat to get some shots in some of the same locations we got her "before" pictures in. Looking at her befores and afters side by side, you see not only the change and growth in her, but the landscape around her. When I photographed her in February, the trees were bare and the grass and ivy were brown.

I hope you can see her courage in these images. I hope you can see her joy. And I hope you can see her faith. She was practically glowing with excitement over her news of being CANCER FREE and I hope you can see that here.

Because that is what I saw when I was with her this morning. Kim, you are beautiful and I'm so honored that you asked me to capture this for you. Thank you for your inspiring stories. Prayers for continued health and that your story may help others battling this awful disease.

Meet the Garcia family...

I met them about 4 years ago when their oldest son, Joseph, and Kathryn were in Pre-K together. Joseph and Kathryn became fast friends (and ended up getting married in Kindergarten at the Q & U wedding!), which in turn led to us getting to know the entire family.

I was checking The Weather Channel app on my phone all day worried that this session was going to get rained out -- fortunately it held off and we only had a few random drops of rain!

...and Grant, who was no more or less challenging than trying to get a picture of my Connor, so I had to make do with allowing a few dinosaurs in the picture :)

This morning I had the pleasure of meeting up with this great family in downtown Woodstock...

...this is actually the very last picture I took and was so glad to finally get a shot with both kids looking at me at the same time :)

The kids were great and oh so curious...this little guy is almost 3 and he told me he has race cars in his bones that make him run fast :)

I couldn't resist sharing this picture of this sweetie...her parents told her to make "the face" and this is what she gave me. How adorable is she?!

I thought the children did a great job letting me snap pictures of them, but I was so impressed with the amount of patience their parents had with them, never once showing an ounce of frustration when the kids wouldn't sit or do what we were hoping they would do to get a great picture.

Tondee | Savannah, GA

There are people in this world who's job is to take pictures of pets. Actual pet photographers.

I am not one of those people, but after my session with this adorable dog, Tondee, I have a lot of respect for pet photographers!

Don't get me wrong, he was a great little puppy model for our session, but if I thought it was challenging to get a good, focused shot of a crawling baby, it is ten times more challenging to get a decent shot of a four-legged critter! Which is what earns cute little Tondee the title of "Most Challenging Client To Date" for me ;)

Meet Tondee...

His owner is a long-time family friend of ours and she adopted Tondee about 4 months ago. She asked me to take some pictures of him, so while my family is at the beach in Hilton Head this week, I took a day to myself and drove over to Savannah to meet little Tondee and his owner, Laurie, at her parents' beautiful home on the water in Savannah.

The yard in the back of their home is open and connected with the surrounding homes of their neighbors', lined with the Spanish moss adorned oaks that are so typical of Savannah -- it's absolutely breathtaking. Tondee loved running free, so much so that he was already way in the distance when I snapped this!

Tondee also loves the great dock that is part of their home...

I really had a great time photographing him...I mean just look at him -- what's not to love?!

It was quite apparent that Laurie and Tondee have a great bond. It reminded me of how much I love having a family pet and can't wait to get another dog for our family.

Even if he didn't fully cooperate or come when he was called, he was still just so stinkin' adorable that you just couldn't get frustrated with him!

We finally decided (actually, I think it was Tondee who decided!) that Tondee was over having the camera in his face and Laurie let him run around the back yard for a bit. One of the neighbor's dogs, Lola, wandered over and I captured one of my favorite images from the morning...a bit over-exposed but I still love it...

It was great seeing you, Laurie, and meeting Tondee! I had fun and hope you love your pictures :)

6 days after capturing her entrance into this world on camera, I was invited to capture her sweet newborn self. And oh what a sweetie she was!

I remember after the birth of my second child, how instantly "big" my first-born seemed next to my newborn. Big sister is only 2, but I'm sure her parents are now marveling at how big she seems compared to her new baby sister :)

Is there anything sweeter than a newborn in a mother's arms? I don't think so...

On May 5, I had the amazing honor of capturing this little one's entrance into the world. Birth photography is, hands down, my favorite type of session as a photographer and I was thrilled that this family asked me to capture this special time for them!

I got a call about 6:00 in the morning that they were headed to the hospital so my initial plan was to drive my kids to school and then head to the hospital. However, a call from dad at about 7:30 saying she was already dilated about 4-5 centimeters changed that! My husband graciously took over and sent me on to the hospital, not wanting me to miss anything :)

Things progressed quickly and baby was born about 9:53 in the morning!

Mom did an awesome job and I was so impressed with the calm environment in the room...what a beautiful way for baby to enter the world!

And dad was thrilled to tell his wife they had another beautiful baby girl (they had not found out the sex of the baby).

Another fun moment to capture was dad announcing to friends and family in the waiting area, "It's a girl!"

And then back to the room as baby E was getting ready for her first bath...

Since the timing was so perfect and family was up at the hospital already, I was able to capture them seeing sweet baby E for the first time...

the two proud grandmothers and proud aunt...

...proud uncle...

It was so touching to watch the women in this baby's life...I know she has been born into a family that will love and encourage her as she grows and it was so neat to see the first moments of this and capture it on camera.

And another favorite moment of mine...seeing the older siblings meet their new baby for the first time...so sweet!

Senior Session, Take 2 | Atlanta Senior Photographer

Remember this gorgeous senior from a few weeks ago? Well, we got together again to finish her session without the rain! Well, barely. We were scheduled to finish her session Friday, but after her mom and I realized it was drizzling, we rescheduled for the following morning.

I'm so glad we waited for the rain to clear out because we got some great shots!

Brother, Sister | Atlanta Child Photographer

These two were a lot of fun to photograph! We met at Thrasher Park in downtown Norcross this morning. I was really glad the storms had cleared out, but had no idea how much wind was left behind!

Even though it was windy, and pretty chilly, these two were troopers. Mom and Dad had promised them hot chocolate at the end of the session if they cooperated :)

This sweet boy is in Kathryn's class at school, so it was fun for me to photograph him. I couldn't tell you how many children I've photographed, but he is the first to notice and ask about the shutter that so quickly opens and closes with each click of the camera. I was amazed! Even my own curious boy has never asked about it (probably because he never sits still long enough to see it happen!!)

And this little princess brought along her tiara for some fun pictures :) Here she is, showing me some of her tae kwon do moves! How many princesses do YOU know that wear rain boots and take tae kwon do?!?! I now know ONE :)

Every time we go to the beach, I envision spending one evening getting some great shots of my kids. I think, "I'll promise them some ice cream if they cooperate and I'm sure I'll get some great shots."

I don't know why I always think that because it never turns out that way :)

I think next time we'll try it on the first or second night we are there, instead of the last night after they're exhausted from playing on the beach all week.

Don't get me wrong, of course I think they are adorable :) I just really wanted a fantastic shot of all three of them looking at the camera with a natural, un-cheesy grin. I'm beginning to think that's impossible at their ages!!

Oh well...I'll keep 'em anyway! At least I got Connor smiling in a few of them -- that's definitely a new development!

I have known these two girls for some time now. I can't remember exactly when they started, but they have been babysitting for my kids since forever. You may remember Erin from her senior portraits I did in the fall?

Well, this is her younger sister, Audrey. Mom decided she wanted some pictures of her after having Erin's senior portraits done :)

My kids love them both and they are great babysitters!

Even more than that, they are great role models to my children -- which I think is especially important in this day and time.

Thanks for letting me photograph you, girls! I love watching you goof off and love even more how beautiful you are, inside and out and for the way you care for our children :) You are so special to our family!

This morning I got the privilege of meeting this beautiful young woman. Only my second senior to photograph, I was a little worried when it started sprinkling and assumed she would want to reschedule. What girl wants her picture taken in the rain?!

But at the mention of rainboots and a polka dot umbrella, she was all game!

She was such a good sport -- running through puddles and sitting on wet benches and railroad tracks!

It was so great to meet you, Courtney! You are gorgeous and I hope you enjoy the last couple of months of your senior year!

Fight Like A Girl | Atlanta Portrait Photographer

Meet Kim. She is "fighting like a girl" against the ugliness that is breast cancer.

I went to high school with Kim and am friends with her on Facebook (what did we DO before Facebook??), so even though I hadn't been in touch with her since we graduated, I knew that she had been battling breast cancer since the fall. I would periodically read her posts on her Caring Bridge site and follow her along her journey, always amazed at her cheerfulness and strong faith that seemed to be carrying her through chemo.

Last weekend Kim contacted me, asking if I'd take some "before and after" pictures of her. She is scheduled to have a double mastectomy this Monday and said that since her hair had started falling out after her first of eight rounds of chemo, she'd been hiding out at home, wearing a wig only to go to work, and that none of her friends had seen her without her hair. I was completely humbled and honored. And a teeny bit nervous :)

So we met at Piedmont Park this morning, along with one of her best friends (who I also graduated with -- Go Cougars!), with the goal of getting some great images. She wanted her friends to be able to see what she looked like without hair and I ~~wanted~~ hoped I would be able to make her feel at ease and capture her beauty and the great smile I remembered from high school.

We got a few shots first while she was still wearing her wig...

And then, once she felt comfortable, and with lots of encouragement from me and her best friend, off it came...

And even though I could tell she was a little nervous, it didn't take long for her to get comfortable and as she chatted and laughed with her friend, I snapped away (while also wiping away a few tears of my own.).

I have known people who have battled all different forms of cancer. Children, adults, grandparents, friends' grandparents. And while it is sad and scary and tragic, it has never hit me like it did today. As I watched Kim through my lens, slowly get comfortable in her skin, smiling at the camera and laughing with her friend, her beautiful, hairless head shining in the gorgeous sun, it hit me. I simply can. not. imagine going through what she is going through. I think it hit me so hard because I feel like I am so young (ha!) and here is someone the same age as me...she has lost her eyebrows, eyelashes, even the hair on her head and is about to lose both of her breasts.

But she still seemed so upbeat. So joyful. So happy. Commenting several times this morning about all the good that has come to her throughout her journey battling stage 2 breast cancer. Her story is incredible and truly a testament to following your instinct or listening to God, however you choose to see it.

She discovered a lump and was told by her doctor that it was nothing, so she sought a second opinion. The second opinion also told her it was nothing, but sent her for a mammogram at Kim's insistance. 3 days later she was being scheduled for biopsies and being told she had cancer.

That was last September. She has now gone through eight rounds of chemotherapy and is about to endure a double mastectomy and will then go through radiation treatments. She is a fighter and I am so inspired by her story. I know God has some great plans in store for her.

Kim, thank you for allowing me to capture your true beauty today. I am proud to know you and pray that your story will inspire and impact others the way it has me.

This morning I got to photograph the sweetest baby girl in a great sunroom with lots of gorgeous light! And, bonus, I got to catch up with her mom and grandmother who I knew from high school :)

When Leigh contacted me at the beginning of the week and told me her baby girl was almost 3 weeks old, I was worried we wouldn't get any of those great curled-up, sleepy shots that most photographers get of newborns, but she was sweet, perfect and very cooperative!

We even got a few of her wide-eyed!

This is the fourth time I've gotten to photograph this adorable little girl, the first time being about 12 days after she was born. I can't believe that a year has passed and she is now a beautiful little one year old!

She was so funny -- very happy to let me take pictures of her, but as soon as her parents tried to jump in for a family shot, she would get upset. Didn't want anyone stealing the spotlight from her :)

This sweet little guy made an appearance ahead of time! His mom, who is a good friend of mine, was scheduled to be induced the Saturday after Thanksgiving, but he decided to come on Friday! I was out of town for Thanksgiving and had planned to drive home a day early to photograph his birth. I was getting my things together when his mom texted me and said, "Dilated 3 cm. Checking into the hospital." Aaack! I raced towards Atlanta and went straight to the hospital, missing his grand entrance into the world by about 20 minutes.

Oh well :) I was able to capture his big brothers meeting him for the first time, which was very sweet. Mom is going to have her hands full with 3 boys! Welcome to the world, Micah!

I know a lot of photographers offer what's called a mini-session, but I hadn't planned on doing that at this point in my business. However, as people have been contacting me over the past few weeks asking for just a few shots to use on their Christmas cards, and seeing as how I have such a hard time saying no, it looks like I am offering mini-sessions now :)

So, without further ado, here are a few images from two of the mini-sessions I've done recently.

What exactly is a mini-session? It's short and sweet! About 30 minutes at a location that you choose, an online gallery with 8-10 images from your session and one digital file of the image of your choice. The cost is $75. Contact me to book your mini-session!

The Ort Family | Atlanta Child & Family Photographer

This past weekend I had the pleasure of capturing the Ort family on camera. Mom had warned me that she was crossing her fingers that her kids would cooperate for pictures. As soon as I met them, I knew they would be fun to work with! Little miss A started talking to me as soon as she opened the front door and I don't think she stopped talking until I drove away at the end of the session :) She was a hoot! And big brother W did a great job listening and was a super rock-thrower at the pond we were next to!

The Ort kids had so much personality -- and that really showed up on the images we captured :)

We had to get a few silly faces out of the way before miss A would smile for the camera!

How sweet are they?!

I've heard that sometimes you get the best shots at the end of the shoot when everyone is relaxed and relieved the session is over -- I love this shot of miss A and her Mommy holding hands as they walked back to the house!

The Q Kids | Atlanta Child Photographer

Meet the Q kids! If you follow my family blog, or remember the birth I photographed this past summer, then you have seen these sweet kiddos before. Their mom brought them down mainly to get some 4 month shots of sweet Lily, but we also wanted to get some of the three of them. Although it was a little chaotic and crazy (mainly because of my own child who was home!), I think we got some cute shots :)

And please take note of Jackson's "buckle" (belt) -- he came dressed in play clothes and couldn't wait for his mom to put his "buckle" on him when he changed into his picture clothes :)

Normally I wouldn't post pictures of my own kids in a client's blog post, but since Shannon and I are such good friends, I know she wouldn't mind. Our other friend, Elizabeth, also came over to help watch Connor and keep him out of the way while I was taking pictures of the Q kids. And for some reason, even though he has no interest in the camera when I actually *want* to take his picture, he lost interest playing with the two older children and wanted to be where the real action was, taking pictures of the baby. So he got to help hold the backdrop :)

But when it came time to take pictures of the older two Q kids, I'd get them all situated against the backdrop and just as I was about to press the shutter, Connor would plop himself down right beside them!

It was a fun morning and a great reminder that even though, with young children especially, it takes a lot of work to orchestrate getting photographs made, it is so important to make the time because all too quickly they won't be so little anymore!

Pastry Class | Atlanta Family Photographer

Last weekend, my aunt gave an early Christmas present to my mom, one of her sisters and two of her friends. She had arranged for a pastry chef to teach a 4 hour class at her house and I got to be the official photographer for the class :) It was so much fun!

Phil, the chef, brought along all the ingredients to make some delectable desserts, and my aunt provided the cooking utensils, appliances and students! Doesn't that sound like a fun way to spend the afternoon?

They made things like: Pumpkin Chiffon Pie, Swedish Cream Cake with a Praline Filling and Buttercream Frosting, Date Pudding and some kind of cookie that I can't remember the name of but was DELICIOUS.

I could tell that all in attendance thoroughly enjoyed themselves -- I know I did! Not only did I get some great images, but I learned quite a few great baking tips :) Like did you know that when you crack an egg you are supposed to hit it on the counter to crack it, instead of on the edge of the bowl? I am constantly fishing out little pieces of shell, and cracking it on the counter first is supposed to eliminate that.

Launch Workshop | Atlanta Child Photographer

I'm still going through all of the images I captured a few weekends ago at the Launch Workshop, led by Stacy Larsen. I learned a ton not only about utilizing natural light to get great images but also about building my business. It was a great 3 days spent soaking in amazing tips and resources, all in the comfort of a beautiful home in Buckhead. Seriously a fabulous time and I couldn't say enough good things about it or about the wonderful women I met!

Here are just two of the many adorable models we worked with -- a very cute brother and sister who were so sweet and easy-going and seemed to get along great!

It took a few minutes for him to warm up, but after taking a few shots of his army guy that he brought along, he was all smiles :)

I had the amazing opportunity to attend the Launch Workshop this weekend -- an early birthday/anniversary gift from my wonderful husband :) I have learned a TON and still have one more day to go! The other night I had the pleasure of doing my first senior session with the loveliest of girls, who has babysat my kids since forever. It was such a fun session, that we decided we'd do it again at a different location, so this is just a little sneak peak from Part 1 of the session :) Though I of course loved getting to take pictures of such a beautiful and smart young lady, it was also fun for me to hear her and her mom talk about this being her last year in high school and going off to college...I couldn't help but wish that time would slow down a little because I know, way too soon, my baby girl will be headed off to college and I just don't know how I'm going to stand it!!

I think half of the shots I got were of her just being silly and goofing off -- can you see why my kids love having her babysit??

You may remember this little cutie. Her parents were kind enough to let me "practice" with her as a newborn and then they asked me back when she was about 2 months old to take more pictures! And now she's 6 months old -- I can't believe it.

She was so sweet and smiley -- showing off her two bottom teeth -- almost the entire time we were taking pictures!

Brandon's grandfather made this toy box for him when he was little and it has now been passed down to Carson.

We started last Saturday afternoon, but the lighting wasn't great (too overcast for indoor shots with my poor little camera!) and I had forgotten how challenging it was to get shots of a 6 month old looking straight at the camera -- and I wanted to be sure to showcase her gorgeous, big blue eyes!

Welcome to the World | Atlanta Birth Photographer

I had the amazing honor of photographing the birth of one of my dear friend's third child. There were so many images that I loved that I decided to just put several of them into a collage. If you'd like to see more, click HERE.

The morning was very quiet as Mom and Dad were waiting for their new little one to arrive. Since they already had a boy and a girl, they decided to not find out the sex of their third one!

Mom wanted Dad to announce the baby's gender as soon as he saw it. See those pictures of them laughing? Well, Dad announced twice that the baby was a boy before realizing that was the umbilical cord hanging between his daughter's legs :) Another girl!

She made a smooth, beautiful entrance into the world and everyone was glad she was finally here.

Thanks guys, for letting me photograph your little one's arrival. It was such a special day! Have fun adjusting to life with three - hee hee!

Last night I got to shoot my future brother-in-law! And I'm here to tell you he was by far the most high-maintenance client I've ever had to photograph. Hee-hee.

Seriously though, we didn't get in as many shots as I would've liked, because we kept postponing thinking it was going to start raining at any minute, so there will probably be a "part 2" to these pictures at some point :)

We got some pretty good ones though!

And here's one for Taki, who asked if I was going to make some of the pictures "gray" (known in the photography world and pretty much the rest of the world as "black and white"):

As you can see, Taki was a great sport! Though I found out halfway through the shoot that he was promised some ice cream if he cooperated for pictures :)

Today I had the privilege of taking Miss Lila's 1 year old pictures. She was the sweetest thing!

I think she was a little unsure of me at first :) But we eventually got a few smiles out of her!

And this is one of my favorites. I love how you can see her little lip at the top of the picture and how she has her feet crossed. Adorable.

This morning I had the privilege of meeting my newest family member, Arya Grace. She is the sweet little daughter of my cousin and his wife.

She is 3 weeks old and didn't want to go to sleep for us. But that was ok, we still got some cute shots!

The nursery is adorable; green and brown with dragonflies :)

She wasn't too fond of being swaddled and when she is swaddled, she likes to have her arms out -- it was very cute!

I got to take pictures of sweet little Carson when she was just a week and a half old. She's two months old now and still just as cute and tiny!

She was so cooperative and I had so much fun posing her and "bossing" her parents around :)

She wasn't too wild about this little headband. Shortly after we put it on her she started crying! But I've been dying to try it out on a cute little girl and Carson fit the bill :)

OK, so I have to tell on Carson's daddy, Brandon. Katie and I had emailed back and forth this past week and I had asked if they were opposed to "naked pictures" (I of course meant Carson!!) When I got to their house, Brandon walked out with a towel wrapped around his waist and asked if I wanted to do the naked pictures first! Good thing I know him so well or I would have been a teeny bit freaked out :)

And this just might be my favorite shot from the whole session -- it was Katie's idea!

I got to photograph this sweet little baby girl this afternoon. What a treat on such a cold day :) She was not too sure about smiling at me, but she sure did smile for her parents! After taking pictures of her, I decided that taking pictures of babies is the perfect way for me to get my "baby fix" without having to have any more!

I had the challenging opportunity to try and capture a "Christmas card picture" of my best friend's two boys yesterday. I say challenging, not because her children were anything less than cooperative, but because I had MY three children along with me! It was a last-minute thing and we thought maybe the promise of getting to play together would be treat enough to produce some good pictures :)

And I have to apologize in advance for the graininess of the photos -- aargh! I'm still figuring out how to best post pictures to the web, and even though I know web and print resolutions differ, I still can't seem to get it right! I promise, the pics are crystal clear and sharp on my monitor!!

I had the opportunity to photograph these little girls this past summer as an assignment for a photography class I was taking -- I was so excited to see them again and photograph them for fun and not homework :)

Here are a few shots from the session. I took a TON of them together, because mom really wanted one for their Christmas card, and as any parent of more than one child knows, I got a TON of pictures with one or the other looking at the camera, but not both :) Actually, I got a few cute ones of them together, but I'll save them for mom to see!

I was supposed to have my first "official" shoot this past Saturday, but it was wet and very overcast and since I use natural light, we decided to reschedule for next weekend, with the hopes that the sun will be out!

In the past, I've tried to have pictures taken of the kids around their birthdays, so I got Kathryn in model mode and took some pictures of her today to mark her 7th year. Out of my three kids, she is definitely my most "bribe-able" :) All it took was a promise of an extra piece of Halloween candy for dessert and she was all smiles!
